EXPRESS FC Board of Trustees president Vincent Bbaale Mugera wants all the former club leaders to work together for the good of the club.

Speaking to hundreds of mourners that turned up to pay their last respects to the club’s fallen heroine Rebecca Namyalo Kazibwe, alias Maama Baker, Mugera called upon past club leaders to put aside their differences and return to work towards uplifting the standard of the club.

Mama Baker was laid to rest at Kkona, Wakiso district on Saturday, after a requiem service conducted at Nakivubo stadium. Soccer fans also had the opportunity to pay their last respects to a fans’ leader.

“Express has gone through problems that we have been able to overcome,” said Mugera, in reference to the 1977 ban by the then Central Province governor Nasur Abdalla.

“There is no reason why we should not work together. Mama Baker’s death has shown us that we can be united for a good cause and that cause is Express.”

The late Kazibwe will be remembered for her role in starting and building women football and sports in general in Uganda. She very often organised Ugandan fans to travel and cheer the national team and local clubs during away international engagements.
