KIBIBI Secondary School has blocked a student who got pregnant from filling in the Joint Admissions Board forms (JAB).

JAB forms are used by the admissions board to select students who qualify for Government sponsorship in higher institutions of learning. Students who miss filling them are not considered.

The school said Fatuma Nansamba was no longer considered their student since she was indefinitely suspended.

Nansamba gave birth in October, a month to the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education examinations.

She was allowed to do examinations after the education ministry intervened.

However, Nansamba was under strict instructions not to interact with other students.

Her mother, Jalia Nambooze, said the head teacher, Abby Mubiru, told her that ‘the school did not want anything to do with Nansamba.’

“He (Mukiibi) told us that he could not even sign the JAB forms for us. We have been advised by the Ministry of Education to fill the forms when results are released,” she said.

Mubiru said: “The case of that girl is above the school and only the commissioner for secondary education can comment about it.”
