UGANDA Cranes coach Bobby Williamson’s central defence problems have been solved by the inclusion of Iceland based professional Andy Mwesigwa who is in Kampala on holiday.

FUFA technical director Edgar Watson yesterday confirmed that Williamson had invited Mwesigwa to the camp that resumes preparations for the Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) Senior Challenge Cup today at Namboole. The tournament kicks off December 31.

“Mwesigwa is around on winter holiday and he is expected to join the rest of the team,” Watson said.

Mwesigwa plays for Iceland side IBV Vestmannaeyjar and is a vastly experienced defender with 24 caps. He comes in to boost a Cranes side that is largely comprised of home based players.
Mwesigwa and SC Villa international right-back Simeon Masaba are expected to offer the much needed experience at the back.

Cranes will play a friendly encounter in Masaka on December 13 and Jinja December 17.

The team will take a Christmas break on December 24 and will return to camp December 26 ahead of the CECAFA kick-off.
