THE Uganda Ladies Golf Union is continuing with their annual junior holiday clinic at Kitante golf course this week.

The clinic that started on Tuesday and ends on January 23 2009, has attracted over 70 children between the age of six and 18 years.

This is the third junior holiday golf clinic in three years. It is being conducted by club pros Sadi Atibu, Amos Kamya and Denis Anguyo.

“The purpose of the clinic is to develop the game of golf among the junior players. We want to develop their character and make them good citizens and also keep them in good health,” the ladies union boss Jolly Karemera said.

The programme that was started two years ago has already borne fruits. Two of the apprentices, Kenneth Batewo and Guma Gumisiriza, are already playing competitive golf.

“We know the equipment for the programme is expensive, but the union has a provision to help some of the kids who do not have it,” Karemera added. “We are also looking for sponsors for the programme.”
