SC Villa yesterday announced a two-year contract for Cranes goalkeeper Hannington Kalyesubula - a day before the transfer window opens at FUFA House, Mengo today. The activity will end January 16, a day to the kick off on January 17.

SC Villa yesterday announced a two-year contract for Cranes goalkeeper Hannington Kalyesubula - a day before the transfer window opens at FUFA House, Mengo today. The activity will end January 16, a day to the kick off on January 17.
Kalyesubula, who left Villa park for a professional stint in Ethiopia returned to the Jogoos earlier and trained with them for the bigger part of the Uganda Super League first round.
He had been approached by attracted attention from Simba SC and Nalubaale, all seeking his signature during the mid season window.
With first choice goalkeeper Benjamin Ekusai injured, Simba coach Sam Ssimbwa is desperate for a custodian given Faisal Kanene’s suspect goalkeeping.
But Villa coach Sula Kato told The New Vision yesterday that they were only waiting for FUFA’s license to formalise Kalyesubula’s arrival at Villa park.
“Surely he (Kalyesubula) can’t go. He has signed a contract and we are only waiting for his license,†Kato confirmed yesterday.
League champions KCC and Kakindu-based Victors are on the other hand pursuing midfield maestro Noah ‘Babadi’ Kasule’s signature.
Each of the clubs are eyeing the player to strengthen them for their respective international engagements.
Contracted players can only transfer upon consent of the former club, the new club and the player. “If any of the parties does not consent, no player on contract is transferable,†Uganda Super League Committee secretary Moses Magogo said.
Magogo also noted that players who transferred during the primary transfer window preceding this season are not eligible to transfer even if all the three parties consent, and warned that clubs who contract players without seeking written consent from the club for which the player is registered will be punished.
The committee will, meanwhile, on January 3-4 re-inspect Ntenjeru, Kakyeka, Lira and Masindi football grounds that host the league before the second round kicks off on January 17 - a month after the fixtures have been released.
Several complaints have emerged from the Super League referees and the match commissioners’ about the said grounds.
