THE Ssabaruuli, Isabarongo Mwogezi Butamanya, was on Thursday ordered by the Nakasongola court to pay sh200,000 in damages to a food vendor.

The money is in addition to sh150,000 the Ssaabaruuli settled out of court.

Margaret Nakatudde had asked for sh1.3m in transport, legal costs and interest on the principal amount.

She said the Ssabaruuli incurred the debt in 2002, when he and his visitors ate food and took soda from her Kezimbira Restaurant.

The Buruuli prime minister, Sebwato Gawera, who represented the Saabaruuli at the over three-hour hearing, promised to pay the money by this week.

The Ssabaruuli who had been given up to December 4, to file a defense, opted to settle the six-year debt out of court.

According to Nakatudde’s plaint, she issued several reminders to Butamanya but he failed to pay.

She presented two handwritten documents dated May 10 and October 28, in which the Ssabaruuli apologised for delaying to pay and promised to do so soon.
