UGANDANS living in the diaspora have been assured of security when they return to invest in the north.

UGANDANS living in the diaspora have been assured of security when they return to invest in the north, reports Chris Ocuwun.

Foreign affairs state minister Okello Oryem said plans by the Lord’s Resistance Army rebels to re-group, train and attack civilians in the north would not succeed.

“There is need to create conducive climate for investors in the north. No investor shall invest where there is war and terror. The issue of (Joseph) Kony has been lingering but now it is history,” he told delegates at a Uganda-Diaspora summit at Acholi Inn in Gulu on Saturday.

The conference was organised by the Uganda Investment Authority and attended by about 200 people.

The minister also advised Ugandans in the diaspora to register with embassies in their countries of residence.

He noted that many of them only register when they are faced with problems.
