Unplugging Blu*3

Blu*3 have enjoyed so much success in music that referring to them as the Coca-Cola teen pop stars seems unfair. The trio showed they are up to musical maturity at Club Silk’s Unplugged 2006 last act.

Blu*3 have enjoyed so much success in music that referring to them as the Coca-Cola teen pop stars seems unfair. The trio showed they are up to musical maturity at Club Silk’s Unplugged 2006 last act.

Unplugged sessions are known to tease many artistes and some end up breaking the rules by plugging, but Jackie, Cindy and Lillian beat the odds last Thursday.

The supporting band comprising Jeckacki members, producer David Mukalazi, Winston Mayanja and Steve Jean, was also impressive.

The trio got a new name that night as Blu*4 because of the presence of another babe, Laura, a back-up singer and sister to Juliana Kanyomozi. Seems like we have lots of music families in Uganda!

The Blu*3, whose second album will be out early next year, enjoyed every moment and urged the audience to sing along, especially to Hitaji, Strong Woman and Nsanyuka Nawe.

Their rendition of Tina Turner’s Simply The Best wasn’t bad either. As usual, Club Beer’s marketing manager Shem Semambo was there praising Club as the best beer.

Maybe he had a point because the session was also attended by Uganda Breweries staff in Robert Kigula, Moses Kebba and Estella Muzito.

Being the last unplugged show of 2006, the Lounge was packed to capacity and many revellers watched the show from screens in the comfy and swanky Oxygen Lounge.

Artistes Iryn Namubiru, Chameleone and Maurice Kirya also attended with each of them hoping for a better 2007.
