INTERNATIONAL Olympic Committee president Dr. Jacques Rogge is in Central African Republic ahead of his visit to Uganda Thursday.

INTERNATIONAL Olympic Committee president Dr. Jacques Rogge is in Central African Republic ahead of his visit to Uganda Thursday.

The 64-year-old Belgian will open a youth seminar in the Central African country today before he heads to Kampala for a two-day visit.

He arrives at Entebbe at noon, before holding a brief press conference in the VIP lounge. He is expected to meet President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

The orthopedic surgeon will also be meeting different sports stakeholders, including the Uganda Olympic Committee, National Council of Sports and sports federations affiliated to the national committee.

Federations intend to seek international help to build a multi-sports indoor gymnasium.

Rogge, a three-time Olympian in 1968, 1972 and 1976 in yachting, is the second IOC president to visit the country after Juan Antonio Samaranch in 1985.

Uganda has 19 national associations associated with Olympism.
