HE is a proud South African-based Ugandan businessman, an accomplished producer, a leader of a Cape Town-based band called Cape Productions, has two albums to his name and also performed alongside famed American rapper, Jay Z, in Cape Town last October.

But despite all this, Eddie Muwonge is yet to consider himself a star in Uganda.

The 27-year-old’s 2004 debut CD, Gwe Wange, was not very convincing.

This explains why it passed unnoticed. But Muwonge’s recently released second six-track recording, Nterede, is proof that the budding Afro-beat singer hasn’t given up.

Muwonge is determined to make his mark on the local music scene. And his music is already playing on our local FM radio stations.

The title track is a dance floor-friendly song with a catchy hook and an infectious rhythm. It was penned and produced by PAM Award-winning songwriter Silver Kyagulanyi. The song talks about someone who has found comfort in a woman he has just fallen in love with.

Another catchy song on the album is Onnondoola, which tells off a woman for stalking her former lover. It is a mid-tempo love ballad and its beguiling lyrics will make many listeners want to listen to the song again and again.

Kyusaamu could be another good song, if the singer could only stop sounding like the late Philly Lutaaya on his classic Born in Africa. The other tracks that are worth listening to are Omulungi Abasinga, Nze Ndeka and Abakyaala.
