EAST African Community nations Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi have agreed to a combined golf calendar this year.

Kenya Golf Union (KGU) treasurer David Nyakango revealed last weekend that the move to settle for one calendar is aimed at avoiding a clash of events in the region.

It would be the first time since the death of the East African Golf Union seven decades ago, that local amateurs have a similar schedule.

The new calendar combines events by the Kenyan, Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi and Rwandan golf unions.

In the new calendar, the East African challenge trophy will take place in November in Bujumbura.
