KAMPALA - The Uganda Association of Private Vocational Institutions (UGAPRIVI) has set up course units for its programmes, to allow students do exams and get certificates. The NGO was formed in 1998 to strengthen cooperation and the standard of vocational and technical education training in private institutions. During an annual general meeting at Sharing Youth Centre recently, the general manager, Haji Yusuf Bachu said the education ministry had directed them to scale down their programmes into modules, examinable by Kyambogo University.
KAYUNGA - Parents should be open to their children on the dangers of premarital sex, to safeguard them from HIV/AIDS, Ntenjeru North MP Sarah Nansubuga has advised. This was during AIDS Day celebrations at Buggadu Village in Busaana sub-county, recently. Nansubuga said being open to children on matters concerning sex was not immoral as most parents think. She warned parents against allowing children to go to disco and movie halls.

IGANGA - Charity Trust Fund, a United Kingdom-based Non-government Organisation, has donated a tennis court worth sh30m to King of Kings Secondary School. In an interview recently, the school director, David Balaba, said the donation was one of the charityâ€™s efforts to boost sports in the school and the district.
KAYUNGA - The local government has constructed a six-classroom block, offices and a latrine worth sh40m at Magala Roman Catholic Primary School under the School Facilitation Grant. Nazigo sub-county LC3 chairman David Magomo commissioned the structures recently.
