Serena, Speke Resort upgrade
KAMPALA Serena Hotel has submitted a proposal to the Government to redesign committee rooms B and C into one room. This follows the Government’s choice of Serena and Speke Resort Munyonyo to host CHOGM. The Government entered into a joint venture with Speke Resort to construct 59 presidential suites.

Opposition catered for

The Government has denied allegations that the opposition has been left out of the preparations for the Commonwealth Heads of government Meeting (CHOGM). “The opposition can’t claim that they don’t know what’s going on because Parliament is involved in the preparations. The opposition is represented in the committee, which oversees the preparations,” said Kagole Kivumbi, the spokesperson of the national task force for CHOGM 2007.

4,000 guests to take part

Up to 4,000 guests are expected to attend the Commonwealth Heads Of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in November. The CHOGM Secretariat has called for adequate preparations for the guests’ accommodation. A brief from the secretariat revealed that all hotels that will host the delegates should be comparable in terms of quality, cost and service to guarantee value for money.

Chance to sell Uganda

UGANDANS should look at the Commonwealth Heads Of Government Meeting as an opportunity to showcase Uganda and enhance capacity for tourism, Kagole Kivumbi, the spokesperson of the national task force for CHOGM 2007 has advised. “CHOGM is an opportunity but there are people who look at it as a problem,” he said. He explained that this would give Ugandans a good business opportunity.
