UGANDA Swimming Federation will put more emphasis on developing medley swimmers, according to a report to be released at the general assembly.

The technical report, to be released at the body’s annual meet next month, will detail plans of how to improve on the current swimmers and also focus on increasing the number of competitors in the longer events.

“Strengthening and developing a particular group of medley swimmers will be our biggest project for this season,” Mugisha noted.

Ever since the Davis Atuhairwe and Aya Nakitanda era in the late 1990’s, Uganda has found it difficult to produce individual medley swimmers.

Gilbert Kaburu (100m), Rahim Karmali (50m), Natasha Ratter (50m), Anthony Nugent (100m) and David Buruchara (50m) are some of the short race swimmers that have taken on the world.

The report will be a follow up on an earlier statement by coach George Mukasa.
