ONE of two ultrasound scanning machines of Nakasake district has been stolen.

The district director of health services, Dr. Mukunya, said the machine, donated by the Ministry of Health recently, was stolen from Ngoma Health Centre.

“It was stolen. It is a Police case,” Dr. Mukunya said over the telephone.

The scanner, one of only two in Nakaseke and Luweero, is part of a multi-million-shilling consignment of medical equipment the Government sent to Nakaseke last year.

The second scanner is still at Nakaseke Hospital.

Other equipment received in the same consignment, included a three-phase generator and an X-ray unit, both of which are in use at Nakaseke Hospital.

The District Police Commander, Paul Nkore, said a nurse, a laboratory attendant and a security guard had been arrested in connection with the theft.

Nkore said the suspects were being interrogated in Kampala, where they were brought by the Violent Crimes Crack Unit.
