Kids league team back home from tour

THE Kids League (TKL) team is back in Kampala after a successful tour of South America, Spain and Belgium.

THE Kids League (TKL) team is back in Kampala after a successful tour of South America, Spain and Belgium.

The team arrived at Entebbe airport last Friday aboard SN Brussels, after finishing second in the Copa de la Amistad tournament in Lima, Peru.

TKL opened their South American tour with a 2-0 walkover win against Eye Inversiones before securing a 0-0 draw against Peruvian team La crema and later outclassing AD Junior team 3-0 to book a final berth.

TKL were then forced to second place overall after a 5-0 defeat to Mexican Cruz Azul team during the final of the class ‘92 Especial tournament.

The UNICEF ambassadors also toured the Barcelona Nou Camp where they shook hands with stars Samuel Eto’o and Ronaldinho, and also met Barca president Joan Laporte. He promised that the Barcelona Academy junior team will visit Uganda in September.

Comprising of players from Kampala, Arua, Kitgum, Gulu and Lira, TKL team enjoyed friendly games with Barca youth team in Barcelona and SN Brussels academy team in Belgium before returning home.

They were received by SN Brussels country manager Pierre Declerk, parents, the league staff and friends amidst joy and ululation at Entebbe.

The tour was courtesy of United Nations Children’s Education Fund (UNICEF).
