The proprietor of Centenary Park, Sarah Kizito, is up in arms against Kampala City Council (KCC) over its decision to give part of the park to a foreign investor without her consent. Kizito’s company, Nnalango Estates, entered into an agreement with KCC last May to maintain the 13-acre park for 10 years. However, in december, Mayor Nasser sebaggala’s executive sub-divided the park and offered two acres to Khadar Investments Ltd owned by a Somalia national. Khadar investments paid a land premium of sh440m to KCC. Kizito, wife of Kampala Central division chairman Godfrey Nyakaana, yesterday told journalists that KCC breached the agreement. She threatened to take the council to court for breach of contract and Khadar Investments for trespass.

Kyambogo dons meet
KAMPALA
Kyambogo University academic staff members meet tomorrow to discuss their grievances with the university administration. The university Academic Staff Association chairman, Ben Enjiku, said the meeting was aimed at discussing the findings of the Cabinet sub-committee investigations into the irregularities in the university. The lecturers went on strike last year demanding that they all be integrated as permanent staff members irrespective of their qualification. President Yoweri Museveni consequently appointed a cabinet sub-committee to look into the matter and report to the cabinet. The university secretary, Katushabe ssemwezi, said most demands of the staff members were met.
