PHIONA Nabaggala of St. Mary’s College Kitende was the only girl among the best six students in Wakiso district.

Although Nabaggala lost her father a few months to the examinations, the 16-year-old scored aggregate eight in the eight science subjects she was doing.

She attributes her success to The New Vision O’Level pullout, her teachers and her mother, who gave her the courage she needed to pass.

Asked how she felt when she received the news of her excellence, the soft-spoken girl said: “I am extremely happy.”
Nabaggala scored aggregate nine in eight.

“My best subjects were chemistry and Maths. I want to do PCB at A’Level so that I become a doctor.”
Nabaggala, who scored aggregate six in PLE from Main Street Primary School in Jinja, was yesterday found at her uncle, Richard Ganji’s home in Namulanda on Entebbe road.

“I thank my headmaster (Rogers Mulindwa) for giving me courage and paying my school fees when I lost my father in January last year,” a beaming Nabaggala said.
The deputy headmaster, Jimmy Ssembatya, commented: “This is an excellent performance for the school and the district. Nabaggala encountered so many problems but managed to excel.”

Two of the top six students in Wakiso were from St. Mary’s College Kisubi, two from King’s College Budo and the other from Uganda Martyrs namugongo.
