Rarely will one treat oneself to a bouquet of flowers, be it natural or artificial. So, many people miss out on the beauty that flowers bring in a home, writes Harriet Birungi.
Interior designers recommend a fresh flower in a house at least once a week to add beauty to the living room and also send out their sweet scent of natural perfume in the atmosphere.
Like a sight of beautiful jewellery cannot be ignored when worn, so is the beauty that flowers bring to a room.
“Flowers brighten up a room and give it life,†says Denis Kikonyogo, a designer and marketing manager at Rusadia florists and decorators on Bombo Road.
“When flowers are natural, they give out a scent which fades as they wilt. So, to fully enjoy them they should be put in a vase where they can be seen and water added to slow down their wilting rate,†advises Kikonyogo.
Another designer at Keva florists says flowers give a good and refreshing feel of where they are placed.
A big fresh flower bouquet costs sh10,000 at Keva florists. A 20-bunch one at Rusadia costs sh2,500, while a mixed one goes for sh5,000.
