The Uganda Debt Network has conducted a study showing 80% of Iganga residents are unaware of the constituency development fund given to their area members of Parliament (MPs). “In Luuka and Kigulu, people were only informed by the researchers,” the district chairman, Bwagu Sengooba, said on Monday. He explained that the study assessed accountability of the MPs of the seventh parliament. The district chief administrative officer thanked the group for helping enforce accountability by leaders.

Rabid dogs poisoned

At least 132 stray dogs have been killed using “streak mine” powder in a joint operation by Kumi Town Council and the veterinary department in a bid to prevent rabies.This followed complaints about the dogs grabbing meat and fish from traders. Animal husbandry officer Pascal Omoding said on Monday the exercise would be carried out annually. He advised the public to seek medical help before using the powder on sick dogs.
