THE winning teams in this year’s Miracle Invitational basketball tournament will earn cash prizes.
The two-day event dubbed ‘the MBC Challenger series’ starts tomorrow at the Miracle court in Rubaga.

Winners and runners-up in the men and women’s categories, will each win a cash award in the event that will for the first time, be played under floodlights.

Unlike last year’s edition where cash prizes were awarded to individual winners, the 2007 Challenger series will have teams battle for pole position in a bid to claim the treasure.

According to the event chairperson, Chris Kyebambe, entries are open to teams and registration fee is sh50,000.

Sadolin Power and Kampala City Council Leopards will face an uphill task as they defend their men and women’s titles respectively.

Meanwhile, organisers will receive a sponsorship boost from Rwenzori Beverages today. The tournament budget is sh3m.
