THE inaugural uganda telecom/USPA annual sports gala is three weeks away.

The gala organised by the sports press body USPA, is the biggest event on the sports social calendar.

It will climax with the crowning of Uganda’s personality of 2006 in front of 400 guests at Shoprite Mall at Lugogo.

“We are in the final preparations for the gala set for March 17 and we want to make it an event with a difference,” promised press association secretary Ahmed Hussein.

Footballer David Obua, rally ace Ronald Ssebuguzi, athletes Moses Kipsiro, Dorcus Inzikuru and Boniface Kiprop were nominated by the press last month to compete for the prestigious crown.

Inzikuru and Kiprop were gold medalists at the Commonwealth Games in Australia while Kipsiro picked up a bronze and gold at the Africa Senior championships.

Obua had a great first season with South African side Kaizer Chiefs while Ssebuguzi won his first national title.  Â
