DENMARK-BASED striker Hassan Mubiru is back on the national soccer team while Hamis Kitagenda’s fine form in the league has earned him a place for the first time.

DENMARK-BASED striker Hassan Mubiru is back on the national soccer team while Hamis Kitagenda’s fine form in the league has earned him a place for the first time.

Kitagenda who has top notched nine goals in KCC’s impressive run in the Super League.

“I am happy but I can’t tell you I’m surprised because I have done very well in the league. I will work hard and score goals to prove my importance to the team,” Kitagenda said yesterday.

Mubiru had initially not been considered after his recent move to the paid ranks, but the absence of Geoffrey Massa due to suspension, means the striking department needed beefing up. Massa will play for the U-23s.

Eugene Ssepuuya in Armenia has also been recalled to strengthen the team seeking to return to the Africa Nations Cup in Ghana for the first time in 30years. The team starts training on March 5.

Also named, was a team to take on South Africa in an Olympic qualifier return leg. South Africa won the first leg 2-0.
