Generous Wopuwa
The chairperson of the parliamentary committee on public service and local government, George William Wopuwa, is a kind man. While chairing a committee session on Wednesday, Nkozi university students on trip entered the committee room. “Hon members, we have student visitors. Please visitors, feel free to have a cup of tea or a soda of your choice. Here we share the available resources equally,” he said, as he passed over a tray of edibles. Bravo, Wopuwa.

Latigo’s publicity
The leader of the opposition in Parliament, Prof. Ogenga Latigo, really likes publicity. He told Parliament: “The opposition walk out earned me positive, albeit mischievous, mention in John Naggenda’s Saturday column. Even our poetic Judge, Justice James Ogoola, was inspired to christen walkouts as, ‘doing a Latigo’. Of course, like all politicians, I love the free publicity.”

Ssemakula puzzled
State minister for finance in charge of investment Prof. Ssemakula Kiwanuka, had a hard time during a plenary session on Tuesday. The minister, who presented a loan request to Parliament for approval, skipped some paragraphs of his statements. As if that was not enough, instead of reading I-D-A, he would say ‘Aidah’. One female MP asked: “Which Aidah are you calling?”

New premier
Adolf Mwesige, the general duties minister in the office of the Prime Minister, proved his worth on Tuesday when he acted as the leader of government business. Adolf, who described the opposition MPs’ walk out as dishonourable and unwarranted, received overwhelming support from NRM MPs. “I would like to thank the new Prime Minister of our own generation for taking charge,” one MP said.
“Thank you,” Mwesige said as he nodded. Wish you success, Adolf.
