REIGNING motor-rally king Ronald Ssebuguzi has been warned of the pressure that goes with opening the way ahead of quick drivers.

Former national champion Ponsiano Lwakataka is certain that Ssebuguzi will crack under the pressure today and tomorrow.

“I can see he is already afraid of opening the way,” Lwakataka commented a day before the Masaka Challenge rally started.

“I am a bit rusty after eight months out of action, but Ssebuguzi remains my junior. If my car doesn’t mess me up, I will defeat him,” he added.

Ssebuguzi’s Mitsubishi Evo4 will be chased by the Subaru Imprezas’ of Lwakataka and fast-rising Faizal Tezikuba.

“It’s good Lwakataka is back to challenge me. I will keep an eye on Faizal too,” Ssebuguzi remarked.

The opening round of the 2007 championship will start with a super special stage at Nabugabo Sand Beach at 1.00pm today ahead of tomorrow’s second leg in Masaka.

Masaka District Council, Petro Old Port Bell, hotels Brovad, Vienna, Zebra, Tropic Inn, Katumwa Sports Centre, Buddu FM, Radio CBS and Nabugabo Sand Beach have sponsored the Southern Motor Club event.
