KABAROLE - The western criminal investigations chief, James Abola, has blamed the increasing number of defilement cases in the region on local leaders. He said: “They are not working with the Police to fight the problem.” Abola, who was releasing a crime report on Monday in Fort Portal, added that the LCs were not reporting the cases. He revealed that 772 defilement cases had been reported in 2006.

Man held over killer fire

KIBAALE - For allegedly lighting a fire in his garden that killed two children, Fred Nikwobizaba of Kiryanga has been arrested. The area Police chief, Fred Mirondo, said investigations were still underway and named the dead as Eriya Byamukama and Omuhereza Mugisa, both aged five and sons of Bosco Bimenya and Edward Omuhereza respectively.
