RONALD Kamoga thumped in a spectacular own goal to hand Police an opportunistic 1-0 win over army side Simba in the Super League at Namboole yesterday.

Simba custodian Benjamin Ekusai looked on helplessly as Kamoga’s intended back-pass header sailed in.

In Iganga, Isaac Isinde scored from the spot on 37 minutes to give the host a crucial win over City Lads. Lads’ Emma Mpingu had handled the ball in the box.

Two first half goals by veterans Hussein Mbalangu and Hesbon Mundia gave Kinyara victory over hard fighting Boroboro.

Star midfielder Ibrahim Jingo had set up both goals.

Meanwhile, URA is steadily keeping pressure on leaders Kampala City Council.

The tax collectors, determined to retain the title they won last year, take on struggling Mbale Heroes well knowing that a win will keep KCC in sight.

The champions have been in good form, only losing points in an away draw with Iganga in a month that has had them secure four wins.

Coach Jimmy Muguwa has to work over time to raise the morale of not only his fans, but also his team that has only managed three wins in 14 matches.

“I know URA has some of the best players but that should not scare me at all given a home ground advantage,” Muguwa noted.
