A STUDiENT of the Uganda Christian University in Mukono was found dead in his room at the New Boys’ Hostel, on Monday morning.

A STUDiENT of the Uganda Christian University in Mukono was found dead in his room at the New Boys’ Hostel, on Monday morning.
The Police has identified the deceased as David Atuhurira, a first year law student.
The body was discovered by his fellow students who reside in the hostel. The head of Mukono Police Station, Erias Kasirabo, said the man committed suicide.
“We suspect that the student poisoned himself on Sunday night before going to bed. This is because we found a bottle of soda lying on the floor in his room and believe it contained poison.â€
Kasirabo explained that basing on the information the Police was given at the scene of the incident, the student may have been having financial problems. These are thought to have affected his academic performance.
However, a student from the deceased’s hostel said the late Atuhurira had disagreed with his girlfriend that night when she threatened to walk out of the relationship.
The cause of the misunderstanding is unclear.
Kasirabo noted that the body was taken to Mulago Hospital for a post-mortem.
Atuhurira’s parents were due to receive the body for burial at their home in Mbarara.
