THE Kyabazinga and chancellor of Namasagali University, Henry Wako Muloki, has asked the National Council for Higher Education to allow the university operate without hindrance.

The council was recently threatening to close the university.

He also asked the Government to consider funding the institution, which is the oldest private university in the country. It has been operating for 10 years.

Namasagali University held its fifth graduation ceremony last month, with Muloki calling upon the graduates to continue searching for knowledge.

The vice-chancellor, Samwiri Kigwana, said they were making final arrangements to have education courses lifted to Kyambogo.

State minister for higher education Gabriel Opio said the Government was willing to support the institution.

“After consultation with the National Council For Higher Education, we agreed that the institutions and the degrees are legal. The Government will support you as you discuss with the council so that you get full operation rights,” said Opio.
