AMURU - The French Ambassador, Bernard Garancer, donated four bicycles to the four people in Alero and Koch-goma sub-counties whose bicycles were destroyed by elephants last year. He handed over the items to the beneficiaries at the district headquarters on Friday. Over 300 elephants from Murchison National Game Park invaded Koch-Goma, Koch Ongako, Purongo and Alero sub-counties and destroyed about 100 hectares of crops. A district official, Gilbert Olanya, threatened to sue the Uganda Wildlife Authority if they did not compensate those whose crops were destroyed.

4 die in car accident

LIRA - Four people died and seven others were seriously injured in a road accident at Anara parish, when their vehicle lost control and overturned. One of the survivors, Paul Ouno, said the lorry, UAB 132A, was overloaded with merchandise.
