NATIONAL volleyball coach Tom Mutebi is not shaken by hitches that marred his team’s preparation for the Zone V championships in Khartoum, Sudan March 24 -30.

The event that also doubles as the zonal All Africa Games qualifier in Algeria later in July, has attracted Sudan, Rwanda, Kenya, Ethiopia and Uganda.

Eritrea, Egypt, Kenya, Somalia Tanzania and Djibouti have not shown up in Sudan.

All Africa Games volleyball champions Egypt has opted out because, as holders, they qualify automatically for the Algeria Games.

Mutebi arrived in Khartoum with the first batch of six players sounding confident to finish among the top three and qualify for Algiers.

By press time yesterday Mutebi was attending a technical meeting that was drawing fixtures for the week-long qualifiers

The second batch of the Ugandan team, jointly sponsored by Ethiopian Airways, National Council of Sports, BTL Advertising and National Housing, left last evening.
