WHOWEVER indicated on the invites that Iryn’s Thursday night showcase at Silk Lounge would be hot and electrifying got it wrong.

For, her show that attracted a full house was not hot but blazing hot; not electrifying but electrocuting. How could they have ‘under estimated’ her so? Perhaps it is because not many had listened to samples of her new songs.

It was the Iryn of old, taking off from where she left off last year. Setting off on a sombre note, she did two of her songs with the Late Jimmy Katumba and later ‘opened up’ both in voice and micro mini dress, which lit up the crowd.

She ‘killed’ the full house crowd in equal measure. The females in the crowd, transfixed by her voice, shrieked in ecstasy as she belted her new songs while most men spell bound by her body, openly gaped. Looking at them undress her with their eyes, you felt for Iryn’s hubby Frank Morel, also in attendance.

If the performance and adulation fans showed her was to go by, you felt other female artistes competing for accolades with Iryn have a job on their sleeves. But then again this lot cheers every performing artiste at silk lounge almost in equal measure. Not wise for Iryn to sit on her laurels yet.

He might have lurked in the background last year, but Qute Kaye’s looks like one to behold. On the night he perfectly blended with Iryn. Their upcoming dance hall duet, Tuzine wasn’t one to be listened to, but rather danced too. The crowd never needed second invitation to hit the dance floor.
