UGANDANS should brace for Japanese ace Miyoshi Hideaki’s sensational pace in the Pearl of Africa Uganda rally due April 13-15.

Miyoshi, who beat a strong international field including junior world rally champion Conrad Rautenbach in the Rally of Tanzania last month, entered the Pearl rally yesterday.

“Miyoshi is a very quick driver. It’s going to be an interesting race now that we have Miyoshi joining Conrad in the rally. They are going to give our local drivers a big challenge,” event manager Jack Wavamunno remarked at a press conference.

Miyoshi, who leads the African Rally Championship standings, will drive the latest Mitsubishi Evo9.

African champion Patrick Emontspool of Belgium, Zambian Muna Singh and Zimbabwean Jammie Whyte are the other foreign entrants so far.

Wavamunno said that seven more international drivers are expected to confirm participation in the third round of the Africa rally championship.

The rally will start with a super special stage at the Lubiri circuit on April 13. The Kabaka of Buganda Ronald Mutebi II is expected to grace the occasion that coincides with his birthday. The first and second legs will be in Luwero district.

The sponsors are Serena Hotel, Fire Masters, Phenix Logistics, Radio CBS Packaging Technologies, Katumwa Sports Centre, Wavah Water, and WBS TV.
