The event that registered 22 beauties ran under the theme “brains and beauty”. Miles Rwamiti talked to the happy winner

You were a crowd favourite throughout the pageant; let us in on the secret of your charm.

IN any public event, the crowd is always a big factor. I must admit that at first, I was a bit timid. I was doing this for the second time and thinking about how I was going to go about it if I had failed.

The crowd, however, cheered me up every time I got onto the stage, which helped me build confidence and stability on the catwalk.

Tell us a little bit about yourself?

I am a jolly person and simple in everything I do. I was born 20 years ago to Joshua and Winfred Sentamu of Kiboga district. However, I grew up in Gaba where I stay up to now.

I went to a primary school in Kiboga before joining Ndejje Secondary School for O’Level. I finished my A’ Level at Gombe Secondary and joined Makerere University Business School (MUBS) where I am doing a degree in international business.

How does it feel being the most beautiful girl at MUBS?

I do not think I am the most beautiful girl at MUBS. What I can say is being crowned prom queen has made me feel the most excited Ugandan. However, I feel so stressed by the different duties I have to fulfill on top of my work.

Now that you are the prom queen, what difference do you hope to make in the world?

I will dedicate my time entirely to charity work. Next week, I want to launch a fundraising campaign for Aisha Nabukeera, the girl who was allegedly burnt by her mother.

What do you think about boys and how do you plan to handle their attention?

I have been with boys right from my childhood. There is nothing much for me to get worried about, but I will ensure that there is co-operation. What do you think about men?

They are the same in the dark. All the views I have about men are the same, period.

Are you in love with someone?

NO. I am single and I will remain that way until I finish school. It is not easy to be in a relationship and the same time read books.

Were your parents okay with you taking part in the beauty contest?

THEY were supportive. It has always been my dream to be a model and my parents have known this, so when I told them about it, they encouraged me.

You are now the proud owner of a Toyota Caldina. How is this going to change your life?

I will always be the same. I did not have a car before, but I knew how to drive, so it is not a big deal. I will do my work the way I have been doing it.

Let us into your fashion secrets

I do not wear make up. I rarely buy clothes, my friends abroad send me most of my clothes.

What is the most memorable moment in your life?

SATURDAY will always be my best day. The day I was crowned prom queen changed my life entirely.

Which Ugandan figure do you admire the most? Tell us why.

OH God! Sylvia Naginda because we are both queens.

How do you spend you free time?

I do love swimming and watching movies. Sometimes I go out with my friends and have fun.

What habit do you hate most?

PICKING the nose is the worst among all. I also do not like people who gossip, especially girls.

Who is you role model?

ANANDA Lewis

Where do your see yourself in the next three years?

WORKING, probably.

When was the last time you did something for the first time?

JESUS! (Laughs). I did something, which is really funny. Sending a funny massage to my mum, yet it was not meant for her.
