Uganda will miss the all-round abilities of Benjamin Musoke and Junior Kwebiiha at the World Cricket League in Australia next month.

The two star players, together with Keith Legesi, Baig Akbar, Nand Kishore and Emmanuel Issaneez have been dropped. A team of 14 was named by the Uganda Cricket Association selectors yesterday.

Kwebiiha and Musoke have not been readily available for training due to tight working schedules.

Brothers Lawrence Sematimba and Frank Nsubuga have bounced back. Sematimba and Nsubuga, who were dropped for the ICC Division Two World Cricket League warm-up matches in Kenya in January, made it back after regaining form.

Uganda is one of eight nations preparing to compete at the International Cricket Council Division Three World Cricket League May 27 – June 2 .

Uganda, Tanzania, USA, PNG, Oman Republic, Malaysia, Cayman Island and Fiji will take part in the one-week championship.

After a poor show at the 2007 World Cup qualifiers in Ireland in 2005, Uganda which finished bottom of the 12-nation championship was relegated to Division Three together with USA and PNG.

Only the top two countries in Division Three will qualify to play in Division Two, which will also act as the Mini World Cup in 2009.
Five of the ten teams will qualify to play at the 2011 World Cup alongside the Test playing nations.

The tournament is crucial for Uganda which had previously reached a level where they were assured of automatic qualification to Mini World Cups.

Uganda’s squad:
J. Olweny(capt) , P. Ochan,
R. Mukasa, A. Kyobe, C. Waiswa, H. Saleh, J. Okello, R. Okia, R. Semanda,
K. Kamyuka, L. Sematimba,
F. Nsubuga, D. Ruyange and R. Otim.
