PASKAR Owor and Catherine Webombesa called on experience to win doubles at the third national trials in Bombo, Saturday.

The two trailed in their races, but sprinted to victory in style in the middle distances of the one-day event.

But it was Webombesa’s sprint in the 800m that left the crowd amazed.

With Janet Achola overtaking her at the half-way mark of the 800m event and building a gap of over 20m, Webombesa looked to be destined for second position until she started to sprint with about 150m left, covered the gap and even managed to beat her rival by four seconds.

“I felt like not running but again feared to lose. That is when I sped up. Its good I won,” Webombesa said after the race.

The day’s revelation was eleven-year-old Milly Nattabi, who beat renowned runner Mildred Chebosis (Ndejje) to second place in the 3000m competition. Nancy Chebet had won the race.
