OLIVE Kigongo, the head of the Uganda National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, has clarified that her organisation is against the destruction of forests.

She was responding to the story published in The New Vision on Thursday headlined: “Don’t give Mehta free land says Kigongo.”

Kigongo said she did not suggest that the Government should not give Mehta free land.

“We (Chamber members) are against the destruction of the forest whether it is given out at no cost or bought because of the economic benefits, ranging from tourism attraction to rainfall formation which boosts agricultural production,” she explained.
