IT may not have been with flair, but URA FC certainly did not mind after their 2-1 win over Bunamwaya helped stretch their league lead to six points.

Veteran defender Phillip Obwiny was terrific in the defending champion’s engine room, fashioning out two opportunistic chances for Richard Baluku and David Kazibwe’s first half strikes.

Such is URA’s all-round competence that teams are required to play consistently above themselves simply to hold their own.

Fred Tamale’s second half thunderbolt was the consolation for Bunamwaya.

In Mukono, Joseph Lwebuga helped Mukono to their second soccer league victory with the all-important goal against Masindi.

Meanwhile, after easing their relegation worries with a 1-0 win over Masaka, Mbale Heroes have promised KCC FC a run for their money when the two sides clash today.

Heroes coach Jimmy Muguwa stressed that his team is determined to avoid the drop at the end of the season.

“We shall play every second round match as a do-or-die encounter considering our worrying position on the league table,” Muguwa said.

KCC have to prove that they have the stamina to push leaders URA with nothing short of victory.

This fixture has been a good one for KCC in recent years. The Lugogo-based outfit pipped Heroes 1-0 both home and away last season before obliterating the eastern side 3-1 in their first round meeting this season. KCC could leap to second place with a win.

Hamis Kitagenda, Nathan Mutenza and Anthony Bongole are three figures whose exciting vein of form suggests the home side could still be out for a very stressful afternoon.

In the other game, City Lads is what Kinyara could look to in trying to revive their poor start to the second round.

The Masindi-based side is yet to win a game in the second round.
