YOU could have mistaken Guinness’ greatness campaign at Kabalagala’s Punchline bar last Friday for a lively church sermon. What with the pews, testimonies (acts of kindness), and most importantly the Guinness converts!

One guest of Kenyan origin told of how he had become accustomed to peeling off certain brand labels before settling for his drink. He was not proud of the beer! When he tasted the cold Guinness, he could not bring himself to peel off the label. His hands went numb. “Thank God I’ve found my drink,” he shouted.

Then there was Alan Musoke the USPA’s 2006 Rugby personality of the year, telling us how a recent switch in brands to Guinness saw his game go a notch higher. Alan, however, never told us whether he drinks the Guinness before, during or after matches.

Pretty face hidden underneath a baseball cap, Guinness Brand manager, Hazel Twesigye explained what Guinness Greatness was all about. She won more converts.

The Maisha dancers have a good account of themselves, but the toast of the evening was Kenyan-based Genge musician, Jua Kali, who ‘twisted’ eager Kenyan babes all evening. They gave him the applause he so merited. A raffle draw saw two winners bag Guinness-branded bags. A third winner got a coveted Guinness memento.

All was well until vice-looking girls gate crashed the party close to midnight. It was just as well the party was coming to an end.
