THE Diocese of Kigezi in Kabale district has commissioned the 37th Gravity Water Flow Scheme that will serve over 2,500 people in Buhara sub-county.

The diocesan bishop, the Rt. Rev. George Katwesigye, on Wednesday said they want to ensure that people get access to clean and safe drinking water.

He added that all religious groups have benefited from the programme.

The scheme was officially inaugurated at Buhara Church of Uganda by the Bishop of St. David’s Wales in the United Kingdom, the Rt. Rev. Carlo Cooper, who pledged to continue supporting the diocese.

The Rev. Canon George Bagamuhunda, the coordinator of the programme, said it covers eight kilometres of pipes, has three reservoir tanks each containing over 10,000 liters and 23 water stands.

The scheme will serve primary and secondary schools and two trading centres with a population of about 1,000 people.
