ROBERT Mugabe scored 14 points and helped limit Norman Blick to five points in UCU’s 56-53 victory over champions Marines on Sunday.
Uganda Christian University Canons forced 10 turn-overs, sapping Marines’ will with a dominant fourth quarter National Basketball League tie at the YMCA.
Geoffrey Omondi added 10 points and Ivan Enabu contributed seven assists as the Canons out-scored Marines 10-4 to claim the lead in the fourth quarter.
It was the same formula UCU basketballers used in their opening win over Warriors last weekend.
Marines utilised a 15-7 third quarter run to claim a 3-point lead with Karl Mugalu contributing 12 points and Moses Olobo adding seven. But their lead did not last as UCU sunk four of six free-throws to claim the victory.
In the women’s games, Mavita Ali chipped in 16 points as A-1 Challenge trounced Crane High 57-15 for their second straight season win.
League action continues tomorrow at Lugogo Indoor Stadium.
