Boeing love at National Theatre

THERE is one rule for all womanisers, and it goes against the groin to break it. “Do not be caught”. It is a lesson that has been going around the world for so long, but finally came to Kampala over the weekend with Marc Camoletti and Beverly Cross’ play, Boeing-boeing.

THERE is one rule for all womanisers, and it goes against the groin to break it. “Do not be caught”. It is a lesson that has been going around the world for so long, but finally came to Kampala over the weekend with Marc Camoletti and Beverly Cross’ play, Boeing-boeing.

The play is the longest running comedy in the history of French theatre. Bernard (John Wayne) is a bachelor with an insatiable appetite for women and he has three air hostesses of different nationalities “in his bed”.

While he manages to juggle the three, time and again, he always escapes by a whisker, thanks to the maid Bertha (Francesca Byakuma) and friend Robert (Samuel Ibanda). And he can hardly take a pick as all have to die-for qualities.

Judith (Shamillah Oyo) is quick to love, Jacklyn (Alexandrie Bart) loves too deeply and Janet (Esther Poya) loves everything.

Without engaging our sympathies, this cast aroused easy laughter with a series of amusing actions and artfully calculated surprise.

This play that is set for a come back to Kampala later in the year, was directed by Kenya’s renowned director Ken Waudo, produced by Zippy Kimandu and acted by Media Connect.
