SEVEN people were murdered and eight died in motoraccidents around the city over the weekend, bringing the total to 15.

Of the murdered people, three were shot dead and two killed by a mob. The Police are yet to establish how the other two were murdered.

Kampala Extra Police spokesman Simeo Nsubuga yesterday said no arrests had been made in connection with the killings which he described as “very shocking and disturbing.”

“These deaths are strange. We have no clues yet but we are investigating. We appeal to the public to desist from mob justice.”

A boda-boda cyclist identified as Mukiga, 30, was murdered by an unidentified watchman near Umeme offices at Kabusu in Rubaga Division.
“At Wabigalo Zone in Namuwongo, Makindye Division, the body of an unidentified man was found in a trench at 2:00am on Saturday. We believe he was killed from elsewhere and dumped there,” said Nsubuga.
Eddy Wasswa, 20, a chapatti maker, was found murdered at Banda Valley, opposite Pearl Petrol Station. His body had bullet wounds.

Nsubuga said a man identified as Bisaso, 20, a resident of Kawanda, was beaten to death by a mob at Makutano Zone in Jinja Kaloli, in Kawempe. “We found a knife next to his bloodstained body and we believe he was also stabbed. His body was taken to the city mortuary in Mulago Hospital as investigations continue.”
Paul Luze, a resident of Tuula Zone in Kawempe, was shot dead by unidentified gunman.

The other dead were not identified but the Police said they were beaten to death by a mob in Makindye and Kawempe divisions.
Meanwhile, a Police Constable attached to the Mobile Police Patrol in Naguru, is being held at the Violent Crime Crack Unit cells, Kireka, after he shot at and seriously injured three Kyambogo University students.

Nsubuga said the drunk Wilson Mukalazi opened fire at the students at an end-of-semester party at Kigudde Ramia’s residence in Kireka late on Sunday night.

He identified the injured as Simon Oyo, Isaac Mwebe and Benson and were admitted to Mulago Hospital. He said 23 bullets and six bullet cartridges were recovered at the scene.
