A team of NRM heavyweights from western Uganda on Friday joined William Kaija’s campaign trail in Kyarusozi sub-county to boost his support.

Kaija is contesting for the Kyenjojo district LC5 chairperson seat against James Byamukama, an independent candidate.

The team that included the Minister for General Duties, Adolf Mwesige, Mwenge North MP Col. Tom Butiime, Kyenjojo Woman MP Joyce Kwebiiha and Kinkizi county MP Dr. Chris Baryomunsi took turns at Binunda village to praise Kaija’s hard work and commitment.

Others from Kabarole included the district LC5 chairperson Michael Mugisa, the district NRM chairperson, Godfrey Nyakahuma, his deputy Nyakwera Baguma and councillor RoseMary Byabashaija.

MPs Stephen Kaliba and Burashya county’s Stephen Kagwera also joined the trail while other members were drawn from Kabarole, Kamwenge, Kyenjojo and Kanungu districts.

Baguma said Kaija was like a groom waiting to be wed on the election day.

“When you elected Kaija as the NRM flag bearer during the party primaries, that was an engagement. Now you are waiting to put a ring, which is the vote on the election day.” The elections are scheduled for May 31.
