THE deal for the supply of vehicles for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in November has not been awarded.

Kagole Kivumbi, the spokesman, did not, however, give the details of the procurement process.

“This process gets completed when a contract has been signed. This has not happened.

“The sub-committee on transport is yet to complete the process and until then, I am unable to confirm the suppliers and how much of what type will be supplied,” Kivumbi said.

He was clarifying on recent media reports that Spear Motors had been offered the deal.

Reports quoted the works ministry’s permanent secretary, Charles Muganzi, to have confirmed that Spear Motors was the best evaluated bidder.

Motorcare/Europcar, the other bidders, were also reported to have called for an administrative review of the whole process “because it had breached procurement rules.”

Cornelia Sabiiti, a Public Procurement and Disposal of Assets Authority official, said the review could take over a month before a decision could be reached.
