EXPRESS FC’s relegation woes were yesterday compounded by a loss to arch-rivals SC Villa and resignation of coach Kennedy Lubogo.

Lubogo couldn’t wait for the final whistle at Nakivubo to throw in the towel. “I can’t motivate the team to a win. The players don’t have the team at heart,” noted Lubogo who didn’t go to the dressing room at half time.

Left full back Mike Azira scored seconds to half time sending the Red Eagles to the Super League’s drop zone.

The goal sparked off a volley of missiles in the Kirussia wing sending Villa fans scampering. Second half was delayed for 15 minutes to restore calm.
In Lira, Simba FC coach Moses Basena stormed the pitch and ordered his players to abandon the match in protest of a Dan Obote equaliser for Boroboro.

Elsewhere City Lads settled for a 2-2 draw with hosts Masindi. The form that recently saw the Lads outwit Mbale Heroes seemed to have evaporated as they settled for their second draw in three matches.

A last minute penalty converted by goalkeeper Ali Kimera equaliser helped Masindi secure a point in a game between two relegation-bound sides.
Julius Ogwang and Immanuel Itenga had put the Lads in the lead before Twaha Sendi pulled one back for Masindi.

With their league ambitions out of the way, relegated Lads meanwhile hope to redeem their fortunes in Kinyara when they venture into the Kakungulu cup today.

Coach David Otti’s side will have another stern test today when they take on Kinyara in the kakungulu Cup.

“Kakungulu Cup tournament has no formula. We have to take the home advantage against City Lads,” said Kinyara coach Leo Adraa.
