THE National Resistance Movement (NRM) won the recent LC3 chairpersons’ elections conducted in the newly-created sub-counties in Kabarole district.

In Katebwa sub-county, NRM’s Eriya Mwogere got 1,260 votes, while the Forum for Democratic Change candidate, Edward Kamende, polled 197.

In Kasenda sub-county, NRM’s Gideon Ruta sailed through unopposed. Kasenda was curved out of Iruhura and Rutete sub-counties, while Katebwa sub-county in Bunyagabu county was curved out of Kisomoro and Buhesi sub-counties after the district council unanimously passed the resolution last year.

Meanwhile, the Kyenjojo district registrar, Charles Mashate, declared Balindwa Serapio Mugabe, an independent candidate, the new LC3 chairman for Butiti sub-county on Friday.

Mugabe polled 3,417, while NRM’s Joseph Amanya got 1,997 votes. Mugabe replaced Seregio Mugara who was shot dead by the Police on January 16.

This was during a scuffle in which the Police dispersed a mob which wanted to lynch a suspected rapist.
