LETS get dirty” was the theme slogan for the Hima Cement and Habitat for Humanity corporate house building initiative held at Takajunge in Mukono over the weekend.

Eight corporate companies — AON, PriceWaterHouseCoopers, Housing Finance, Mantrac, Spedag, MultiChoice, G4Security and Celtel switched their suits and ties for dungarees and gloves to build houses.

Kudos go to Mantrac, G4Security and Housing Finance for good organisation.
“Living in a decent home is a dream that we all share. However, for many people, this dream is beyond reach.

Habitat for Humanity helps realise this dream for the very poor, by offering them interest-free non-profit mortgages and DStv is delighted to be able to support Habitat in this initiative,” said Charles Hamya, the managing director of MultiChoice.

Hima Cement contributed 1,240 bags of cement (worth sh24m), while the other corporate companies collectively raised sh16m.

The 100 benefiting families are from all over the country, with some being widows and others suffering from HIV/AIDS.

People displaced by the war in the north, will also benefit from the project.
