Dr. Annette Windmeiser, the development cooperation adviser at the German Embassy, said during the tour of the Gaba111 water plant near Kampala that euro 56m would improve the Kampala water supply, while euros 45m would go to the Bujagali hydro power project.

Jackson Opwonya, the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) acting managing director, said they were looking at efficient service delivery through delegated performance contracts.

He disclosed that the NWSC would perfect its management information systems through automated meter reading, hydraulic modelling and asset management.

“We have about 175,000 subscribers,” Opwonya said.
with a service coverage of about 72%. “We are now operating in 22 towns with a turnover of sh68b,” Opwonya said.

Harrison Mutikanga, the Kampala water chief, said NWSC had been marketed to utilities throughout the world.
