CELTEL is to deploy the renown Blackberry mobile device. This follows an agreement with the Mobile Telecommunication Company (MTC) of Kuwait and the Dubai-based Emitac Mobile Solutions (EMS), the vendor of the service.

MTC owns Celtel International following a $2.3b acquisition in 2005.

Blackberry provides wireless access to email, phone, Internet, SMS and corporate data applications in a single device.
MTC launched the service in Kuwait and Jordan for its corporate customers.

Under the agreement, MTC and Celtel networks will access EMS Blackberry Launch Programme for the world renown service.

Dr. Saad Al-Barrak, the MTC chief executive officer, said the move will allow them to provide solutions that match the fast-paced lifestyles of their clients.

“Middle East and Africa are rapidly developing.

“They are in urgent need for solutions that address the fast paced life and competitive environment they operates in.
“We are happy to be the first to bring the service to these regions,” he explained.
